
In recent years the problem of energy security came to the fore in the energy cooperation between Russia and the EU.
During numerous discussions, which were quite active on this subject, including ones at the highest level, major threats to the continent’s energy security were defined.

All cross-country relationships go through periods of mutual attraction and reciprocal alienation. These periods alternate just like seasons or economic upturns and downturns, and everybody is aware of these alternations but nobody is able to predict the precise moment of change.

The current gas crisis is no surprise. A «clarifying» moment as concerns the energy relationship between Russia, Ukraine and EU Member States would have appeared, sooner or later.
